Why Adventure Awaits Fido! Exists

Dogs are individuals. One may want to spend the morning racing through the yard, while another needs time to observe before joining. Some love puzzles, some live for a trail, and some are happiest curled beside a person after a little play. Kristi built Adventure Awaits Fido! around that reality. Limiting enrollment makes it possible to notice the small things: who is tired, who is gaining confidence, who needs space, and who would benefit from a special activity.

A Background in Teaching and Care

Before opening Adventure Awaits Fido!, Kristi earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in teaching and spent seven and a half years teaching high school. Her trauma-informed education background strengthened skills that matter in dog care too: observation, patience, communication, planning, de-escalation, and adapting to different needs. Kristi is trained in pet CPR and first aid, and Adventure Awaits Fido! operates as a licensed kennel.

An Outdoorsy Approach to Enrichment

Kristi has completed a half Ironman and solo-hiked Georgia’s portion of the Appalachian Trail. That love of movement and nature shaped the Adventure Awaits Fido! experience, from wooded play areas and sniffaris to individual nature walks and dog adventure hikes. Not every dog needs an athletic outing. The goal is always to choose an activity that suits the dog rather than making the dog fit the activity.

What Owner-Operated Care Means

Owner-operated care does not mean dogs receive identical attention every minute. It means the person responsible for the business is directly involved in daily decisions, routines, communication, and quality of care. Kristi gets to know regular guests over time and works to create a familiar, predictable experience that feels like a home away from home.
