Basic Obedience Training and Social Skills Practice

Short, positive practice sessions that add purpose to your dog’s boarding or daycare experience.

Adventure Awaits Fido! offers basic skills refreshers and supervised social practice for dogs who are already appropriate for our care environment. These sessions help dogs rehearse familiar behaviors in a new setting and give owners practical ideas to continue at home.

Skills We May Practice
  • Sit, down, and stay
  • Place or settle on a mat
  • Wait at doors and gates
  • Coming when called in a controlled setting
  • Loose-leash attention and walking manners
  • Calm greetings and focus around distractions
  • Handling tolerance for routine care
The exact skills depend on the dog’s current ability, motivation, comfort, and the length of the session.

Individual Training Refreshers

A short one-on-one refresher provides focused practice outside the regular playgroup. When appropriate, the session may include a brief assessment, simple homework guidance, or a short video so the family can see what was practiced. These sessions are designed for basic manners and enrichment. They are not a substitute for a complete training program or a veterinary behavior plan.

Group Training Enrichment

Boarding and daycare dogs may participate in complimentary group training enrichment in the morning and afternoon. Dogs can practice simple cues around compatible friends, and dogs who prefer not to participate are not forced. Group practice helps reinforce calm attention and good manners while still keeping the activity light and enjoyable.

What We Do Not Treat

Adventure Awaits Fido! does not present basic refreshers as treatment for serious aggression, severe fear, intense resource guarding, bite-risk behavior, or complex separation distress. Dogs with those concerns may need a qualified professional who can provide a full behavior assessment and individualized plan. We believe appropriate referrals are part of responsible care. When a concern falls outside the scope of an enrichment refresher, we will recommend working with an experienced trainer, behavior consultant, or veterinarian.

Add Practice to Boarding or Daycare
Basic obedience training can be requested as an add-on to an approved boarding or daycare reservation. Availability depends on the daily schedule and the dog’s ability to participate comfortably.
